Why release the front and side of the neck rather than the back? A technology driven life, stress, detrimental alignment of the feet, pelvis or anywhere else in the body... all these can lead to rounded shoulders and forwards shift of the head. As the front of the body quietly works to shorten and tighten, the back of the body gets pulled and strained. Often we feel the pain in those structures that are most strained, the 'back body' has lost its tonicity and is screaming for help. In the meantime, the tension creeping up in the front of the chest and neck is as silent as it is held and constant.
